Home lab

In my spare time, I like to experiment and learn by maintaining my own home lab environment. It’s built around a Dell OptiPlex thin client PC running Proxmox as the hypervisor.

Within this virtualized environment, I run multiple virtual machines and containers to explore different technologies, including networking, system administration, and cloud-like infrastructure setups. My home lab serves as a safe sandbox where I can test configurations and deploy services for family use.

I regularly use it to experiment with automation, infrastructure-as-code, and security concepts, helping me strengthen my practical skills beyond what I learn in my studies.

Web development

Next to maintaining my home lab, I also like to build websites for friends, family and local communities.

Kurotory Arts Belgium

Online art gallery & portfolio

Kurotory Arts is, first and foremost, a visual experience. It features a high-performance personal portfolio and an online gallery showcasing diverse artistic works. The interface is designed to be minimalist, ensuring that the art remains the focal point while providing a seamless user experience.

Technical features

Behind the scenes, the platform is powered by a robust backend designed with scalability for creative businesses in mind. A custom-built system enables real-time tracking of original works, editions, and availability. New artworks can be easily uploaded, with automatic categorization based on tags.

In addition, the website supports multiple languages and is fully localized, allowing an international audience to explore the gallery in their preferred language. Visitors can also easily request a quotation for one or more artworks, supported by a streamlined communication layer for inquiries related to purchases, collaborations, or commissions.

‘t Zaaltje Oudenbos

This project consists of a custom-built website developed for a local venue, designed to provide clear information and simplify communication with visitors. The platform focuses on usability and performance, ensuring that users can quickly find relevant details such as events, how to make a reservation, and contact information.

From a technical perspective, the website was developed using PHP and a lightweight backend architecture, allowing for efficient content management and fast load times. The solution was tailored to the specific needs of the client, avoiding unnecessary complexity while remaining scalable for future enhancements.

Technical Features

The platform includes a reservation system that allows visitors to easily book the venue online, streamlining the communication process. An integrated online menu can be managed directly through the admin panel, enabling quick and efficient updates without technical knowledge.

Additionally, the website features a news section powered by a WYSIWYG editor, allowing administrators to publish and edit content in a user-friendly way. To support business operations, an automated invoicing system was implemented, including email handling for sending invoices directly to clients.
